Do You know the difference between depression and complicated grief? Today it appears that many individuals are having to experience a great deal of loss. The loss could be a result of a death. The loss of a job. It could also be as a result of ending a relationship, employment or being informed of a health related issues. Grief is normal and necessary. Grief is also unique as it is different for everyone. However today even trying to explain the grief process to a child, teen or adult can be challenging.

Today's show is a follow up from last weeks show. The show is designed to discuss complicated grief. Complicated grief is different from depression. Complicated grief is like being in an ongoing, heightened state of mourning that keeps one from healing. The signs and symptoms of complicated grief may include intense sorrow, pain and rumination over the loss of a loved one. In the first two or three months after a loss the symptoms can be difficult to detect. If the grief intensify as more time passes or persist for six months or longer it may be a sign of complicated giref.

Grief can cause other problems such as increases one's inflammination. As well as weaken one's immune system which right now most do not want to happen. Let's discuss healthy ways to deal with grief. The pain can be devestating. Losing a parent, child, spouse, friend, or pet just to name a few can leave a huge void in one's life. However with appropriate tools and resources it is possible for one to move on with their life. I want to hear your thoughts. To join in on the conversation call 516 387-1914.
