When your child becomes an adult such should transition into a beautiful relationship. However many parents have no idea as to how to parent their adult child. Many parents are finding themself in this situation. Yes maturity and lack of maturity can play a part. And yes rent is much higher than what it was over 20 years ago.

It has been said that many adults age 18-24 live with their parents. Now 13 percent of adults ages 24-35 also reside with their parents. Situations may vary. However as a parent are you enabkling your adult child?Do you know the signs of an enabling parent? Do you have an overly dependent adult child? Are you helping or hurting your adult child? Often anxiety, fear, guillt, culture, and unresolved family issues can play a part. There is also something called, " Enabling Mother Syndrome." But what about fathers that enable their daughters or sons?

One may question why is enabling your adult child a bad thing especially if you are able to help your adult child? Let's talk about it.

We must stop enabling our adult children as it stops them from doing what they may be able to do for themself. Such can lead to entitlement issues, resentment, disrespful behaviors, emeshed relationships. Some parents will also later feel like a prisioner in their own home.
