John the Baptist “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world”

This verse reveals the theological premise that through Yeshua the saviour, as the "Lamb of God" humanity's sins can be forgiven, that Yeshua is capable of atoning not just for individual sins, but for the sins of the whole world.

Also John’s recognition of Yeshua as the "Lamb of God" validates his own prophetic ministry as the forerunner who prepared the way for the Messiah and his divine mission is now completed. Now the focus shifts a new covenant between God and humanity.
