Interviewer: Welcome to a special episode of the Hollis Chapman Show! Today, we have the pleasure of speaking with the talented author, Sam Ingraffia, about his latest book, "Bad Bones: A Charlie Mystery with bullets, babies, and bebop." Sam, it's wonderful to have you here.

Sam Ingraffia: Thank you, Hollis. I'm delighted to be here.

Interviewer: Let's start with the inspiration behind the plot of "Bad Bones." What sparked the idea for this particular mystery, and how did you develop it into a full-fledged novel?

Sam Ingraffia: Great question, Hollis. The inspiration for "Bad Bones" actually came from my love for bebop music and the film noir genre. I wanted to merge these two elements together and create a unique mystery. I imagined a protagonist, Charlie, a jazz saxophonist who finds himself entangled in a dangerous investigation. From there, the plot unfolded, taking unexpected twists and turns as I fleshed out the story.

Interviewer: The characters in "Bad Bones" are compelling and add depth to the narrative. How did you approach their development, particularly Charlie, the main character?

Sam Ingraffia: Developing the characters was an organic process for me. I wanted them to feel authentic and relatable to readers. Charlie, in particular, has layers to his persona. He's talented yet flawed, and his love for music often collides with his personal life. I drew inspiration from real-life jazz musicians and combined it with my own imagination to create a complex protagonist. I also made sure to give supporting characters their own arcs and motivations to add richness to the overall story.

Interviewer: The use of bebop music as a prominent theme in the book adds another layer of depth and richness. How did you intertwine this theme throughout the story, and what significance does it hold?
