I am happy to have Dennis Hagerty as my guest for 07/12/17. Dennis Hagerty became a big music fan as a child, beginning drum lessons at age nine. In high school he played in a band and later taught himself guitar. As a musical outlet in addition to career and family, he formed a Novato-based band with friends in 1988 and has performed regularly since then playing weddings, parties, fundraisers and at church.
Along the way, he developed an interest in songwriting and began recording at home. Originally he played all the instruments but later went into the studio and recorded them again with musician friends. He wanted to hear different voices so he rewrote many of the songs from a female perspective.
His album of thirteen original songs was released in 2012 under the name of Blind Date. He has worked with songwriting coaches Bonnie Hayes and Steve Seskin. Dennis loves the art of songwriting and is fascinated with the process of making a melody and lyrics that create a mood - all within a few minutes. Dennis has been a State Farm Insurance agent in Novato since 1982 where he lives with his wife Gilda. They have one son, Kyle, who lives in Colorado. He was a Boy Scout leader 1989-2000, entertainment coordinator for the Novato Art, Wine & Music Festival 1987-2014 and has been a member Novato Rotary since 1990.
Tune in to hear what Dennis has to say about living your music and you’ll also get to hear Dennis’ song Goodbye during the show!
