Darnell Karim's Book - The 1st National Independent Islamic School System in USA

    in Lifestyle

Join WORDS-MAKE-PEOPLE on Sunday July 17th from 1-3 p.m. (Eastern Time), for an outstanding discussion with our Beloved Imam Darnell Karim, a lifetime member of the Islamic development of African Americans and a childhood friend of Muslim American leader Imam W. Deen Mohammed. Imam Darnell Karim has peened a book titled, "The First National Independent Islamic School System In America." Join us as we discuss this new publication and its importance to the our Muslim American Islamic life. The book identifies the key roles played by W. D. Fard, Elijah Muhammad and Clara Muhammad and their followers in the 1940s, the 1950s, the 1960s and the 1970s in developing the community in whose womb the University of Islam developed. In spite of pressure from external forces and conflict from within, the leadership and the members fought to preserve the school from external influences, and to educate their children to think for themselves, to do for themselves, to be for themselves. This book describes their success and the rewards of their success. Out of the first graduating class came the character, the proficiency and the preservation of the community’s future. Upon the death of the Hon. Elijah Muhammad, the leadership of his community was chosen by the members who attended the annual convention that year and Imam W. Deen Mohammed took his place at the head of the organization. He transformed the original Nation of Islam in many ways over the course of his leadership giving the organization and its members worldwide recognition and distinction. Live Your Music – Margaux Joy and Guest Jim McCarty 07/20/22

    in Lifestyle

I am happy to have Jim McCarty as my guest for Live Your Music! Tune in for a conversation about Music, Friends, True Loves in the Beyond, Writing Books, and being in the The Yardbirds.
James Stanley McCarty (born 25 July 1943) is an English musician, best known as the drummer for The Yardbirds and Renaissance. Following Chris Dreja's departure from the Yardbirds in 2013, McCarty became the only member of the band to feature in every lineup.
McCarty has performed and recorded with the Yardbirds, Together, Renaissance, Shoot, Illusion, the Yardbirds reunion band Box of Frogs, Stairway, the British Invasion All-Stars, and Pilgrim, as well as under his own name and as the Jim McCarty Band. Since 1992 he has been playing with the reformed Yardbirds. Mr. McCarty was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a founding member of The Yardbirds.
Jim McCarty’s first book, Nobody Told Me, was the story of the best days of his life, and a musical career that took him from a holiday camp in the English west country to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.
Jim’s new book, She Walks in Beauty, on the other hand, begins on the very worst day of my life, June 7, 2020— with the death of his wife Elisabeth. Lizzie.
She Walks in Beauty is not the typical rock’n’roll autobiography. There again, Jim McCarty is not the typical rock’n’roller.
