Guest: Hugh Brewster is the author of four award-winning books about Canadians under fire that have won acclaim with readers of all ages. At Vimy Ridge is the winner of the 2008 Norma Fleck Award for the best Canadian non-fiction book for young readers.At Juno Beach won the 2006 Information Book Award and Dieppe: Canada’s Darkest Day of World War II was hailed by the Globe and Mail in 2009as “simply superb.”  The experiences described to him by veterans of the Dieppe Raid inspired the novel Prisoner of Dieppe which was acclaimed as one of the outstanding books of 2010.

As an editor for Scholastic from 1972 to 1984 in both Toronto and New York, he was involved in the creation of Scholastic’s Canadian children’s publishing program. Between 1984 and 2004 he was the publisher of Madison Press Books in Toronto where he helped to create a number of successful books for both adults and young readers including Exploring the Titanic, that has sold over one million copies.
