Pianist, Vocalist, Songwriter, Composer Walter Duda, born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, is the sixth of seven children. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Detroit and furthered his studies at Fairfield University and Wayne State University graduate schools. After teaching foreign languages at the high school level, Walter chose music as his true language. His journey in music began with his first composition, which garnered honorable mention in a nationwide scholarship contest sponsored by Berklee College of Music in Boston. Walter caught the attention of George Butler, then vice president of jazz and progressive music at CBS Records, who arranged for him to record a voice and piano demo at the legendary A&R Recording Studios in New York City. Since then, Walter has collaborated with notable session musicians such as Will Lee, Miroslav Vitous, Chris Parker, John Tropea, Dave Weckl, and Marion Meadows. As a songwriter, Walter draws inspiration from artists like Brian Wilson, Michael Franks, Mose Allison, Brian Auger, and Bobby Caldwell. He is also a published freelance music writer and has taught piano at The New England Music Academy in New Haven, CT. Walter has graced the stages of many legendary venues in New York City and has received mentions in publications like The New York Times, Connecticut Post, and New Haven Advocate.
