WHAT IS THE POINT?

What is the point?  For any man who has paid attention to life around him, he will know what I am about to explain.  Even the thought of taking this step with you is a humbling experience.  If you have ever been self-conscious, have ever doubted your motive in life, have found yourself hesitant to try, then freemasonry has a message that is worth all the effort and practice. I don't even know the right word to use, because each one is incomplete it is way.  When your actions are governed by conviction that you have something to share, something you need to do in life, it is different when you act with purpose.  A careful reading of ritual as I do, reveals the point.  Freemasonry is a path to demonstrate in the most honest way achieveable that you are capable and have proved to yourself that you understand purpose.  It is not found in a book or a pamphlet. It is taught one to another by one who has who has the knowledge and knows that it is a journey an individual takes alone. It is confidence. It is integrity. It is understated power. It is connecting. Living with purpose is the point. What else is there? If you follow this, then you have the intelligence needed. If reveals dimensions of you that otherwise remain dormant.  Yes there are other means to this end. But can you describe it as a process of life long development, each day poised to discover meaning because I have yet to find it.  Do this with me. Step forward into our philosophical history and we will reveal the magic of wizards, the secrets of alchemists and wisdom of the gods. Accepting mediocrity makes a man hesitate,bottled up not risking to find his true ability.  It takes courage to find this truth. Not power. Certainly not wealth and fame. When you find your purpose, then you can live it. And that my brethren, of whatever gender assignment is you, is at the point of the compasses.
