#IAMRIVIERABEACH Ronnie Felder, Mayor of Riviera Beach, Co-Host, Ann McNeill, Da...

    in Lifestyle

After reading the book ACRES OF DIAMONDS by Russell Conwell, I am convinced we are all leaving the diamond mines in our own backyards as we travel around the world looking for larger diamonds, when in fact the diamonds we seek are found within us and our hometown, from whence we came. Therefore, we are calling the podcast, #IAMRIVIERABEACH.   Today's Guest: Mayor Ronnie Felder Mayor Ronnie L. Felder grew up in the city which he now leads, the City of Riviera Beach. He is the founding pastor of the Transformation Church of the Palm Beaches and the CEO and executive director of JAY Outreach Ministries, a spiritually-based recovery program for men that was created by his father decades before. Both are located in the City.
Mayor Felder has a heart for the people and the city he loves and he puts the needs of city residents and the city, itself, first by giving the residents a voice. He listens; he acts. Indeed, since his election in March 2019, he has been working actively to put strategic plans in place that will create specialized opportunities to educate, protect and empower the city’s youth, to support its seniors and to ensure that city taxpayers are informed and connected. Also, his goal is to align the city with partners and organizations that will build, develop and support local businesses that will, in turn, create more careers and a stronger economy. Alongside his love for Riviera Beach is his love for his wife, Carla, to whom he has been married for 27 years. Together, they have three children.
    Connect with Mayor Felder:561-670-8701
Call into the podcast dial 661-554-9219. Join me Ann McNeill, and co-host Dan Callaway 561-531-9184 or 561-848-4991 as we discuss the history, the present, and the future of our great city. Any questions or comments you can reach Ann McNeill at 786-546-0184

    Losing Dad And Handling Grief

    in Lifestyle

In another "very special episode of StoryTime," GamerDude talks about his dad's death 15 years ago. He talks about the last few months of his dad's life, and how "the fixer" in GamerDude drove him to try and "fix" the situation. He talks about how his parents had been relying on Christian Science for treatment, and how - even though he was brought up in the religion, and acknowledged and respected their beliefs - GamerDude nevertheless felt compelled to get his father to the hospital to try to get him some treatment. He talks about the challenge of dealing with his parents about doctors, and dealing with doctors and nurses while trying to explain his parents' reliance on Christian Science.
He also shares the story of the night his dad died. He talks about what happened that night, and how difficult it was. And he also talks about how he went through so many feelings and emotions, from pain and sadness, to numbness and frustration.
GamerDude also talks about how there is no one way, and no right way, to grieve. He explains that you feel what you feel, and it's okay to deal with it, either on your own, or with friends, as long as you deal with it. He also explains that, no matter what your feelings, it is important to acknowledge them, and to feel them, but it's also important not to be consumed by them, and to move on with your life.
