We are built in and of fluidity where tonal resonance in both voice and instrument beats heavily and with strength inside every fibre of our being. Poetry and music have been intrinsically intertwined for thousands of years, ancient Greeks used the lyre and Chinese the pipa and guqin. Think of the troubadors and minstrels who had unprecedented freedom of speech inre content and how voice and strings could soothe the savage breast and delight upper crust audiences as well as local townsfolk. At LNP, we encourage you to join in and draw from the modern offerings whom we shall highlight, thereby opening our thoughts, ideas and genres that we enjoy at home, in stadiums, outdoor venues and on the radio anytime, anywhere. We are generations of tempo-ed voices birthing our hearts, pain, anthems, protests, humor, satire, embracing all things poetic, musical and those forms where the love of, begins, with you.

  • Close Up Radio Spotlights Author Karen Frank Barney

    in Books

St. Louis, MO - Occupational therapy and aging aren’t two concepts that are often brought together, but Karen Frank Barney has spent her life helping older and incarcerated adults achieve a better quality of life with occupational therapy. Author of Occupational Therapy with Aging Adults, Promoting Quality of Life Through Collaborative Practice, Karen worked with 82 leaders in gerontology and occupational therapy to publish the second edition, coming out this fall.
“Since earning my emeritus status at Saint Louis University, I wanted to include content I have been working on since 2013 related to a rehabilitation model for people being released from prison,” shares Karen.
Thirty years of age is typically human’s physical peak. “That’s why the book is geared toward aging adults, as we’re all aging after age 30. I wanted to include everyone who is on decline, whether physical, or psychological, for a variety of reasons. We know that, on average, older adults have 40% less muscle mass than younger adults. Physical decline is a natural part of life. Keeping our bodies functional throughout our adult ages, is essential for quality of life. With proper therapy and other interventions, that 40% can be mitigated and even reversed. Exercise can be as simple as taking a walk to the store rather than driving. My husband and I are both in our early 80s and we’ve been working with a trainer for a decade,” shares Karen.
Occupational Therapy with Aging Adults is available on Amazon.

Jules Stevenson: QLPORYT Interview and Poetry Reading - Audio Version

    in Poetry

Jules Stevenson is a 21-year-old poet, artist, and social media influencer from Selkirk, Manitoba. She began writing in her early teens as a means of coping with anxiety, depression, anorexia, sexual trauma, abuse, and suicide. Over the years, her writing has evolved into an incredibly intimate and honest body of work. At 16, Jules self-published her first book, ‘atrophy,’ a collection centered around anorexia. Her work frequently explores themes of trauma, the body, feminism, and mental health. In 2023, her poem 'An Apology to My Cat' went viral on TikTok, gaining over 12.6 million views. This global reaction led to the self-publication of her poetry memoir, ‘self portraits of a girl collapsing violently inward,’ which focuses on sexual and digital trauma during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jules has garnered several accolades in the poetry community, including winning first place at Slamdemic, third place with her team at Poetry in Voice, and securing second place multiple times at Poetry Battles. In 2024, she represented her province at the Canadian Individual Poetry Slam, showcasing her talent on a national stage. She was also selected by the Manitoba Council for International Cooperation to co-author and perform a poem on gender equality at the legislature for International Development Week. Currently, Jules spends her time working as a barista, writing, and enjoying the company of her beloved cats, Moth and Lamp.

  • Garden of Enlightenment ...with... Luyu Wild Dove & Company

    in Poetry

"Poetry IS When an Emotion has Found its Thought and the Thought HAS Found Words"... Robert Frost Poetry has its own individual voice in each of us. It is the lyrics of our experiences that form and shed enlightenment in who we are. Each poem paints what is, what is missing and the desires that burn inside each of us that we crave. They are the door we open in our soul's closet taking out our hidden treasures, exposing them to the world. Trinkets, jewels of emotions of different textures, colors and strengths we place before you in poetry.

  • After Midnight with Rex and Pam...

    in Poetry

Stop in After Midnight, We at L-N-P's After Midnight invite you to- dine on the words, voices of those giants; those ministers to the maelstrom brewing third eye bright, screamt from that reality, billowing, with their breaths. You've suckled with Bukowski, published obscene odes with Ginsberg, went on the Road with Kerouac and broke on through the other side with Morrison. Come .... walk past the edge of Midnight, open those doors wide and step through that portal. And as your eyes see, then the mind becomes a playground, a vast universe,  Unique. Free, of the constraints born in preconceived theories, where your voice, will be uncloaked, Heard.

  • Part 2: Close Up Radio Welcomes Back Author and Professor Kim S. Cameron

    in Books

Ann Arbor, MI - Author of sixteen scholarly books, Kim Cameron’s latest release is Positively Energizing Leadership. “The purpose of the book is to highlight three points. The first is to make the empirical case that all human beings flourish and thrive in the presence of positive energy. The second point is that when a leader demonstrates positively energizing practices, the organization’s overall performance goes up markedly—that is, profitability, productivity, quality, and so forth. Positively energizing practices are simply behaviors we all know: kindness, gratitude, compassion, and forgiveness which are embedded in the organization’s culture. The third point of the book is to explain and illustrate the effectiveness of the behaviors that characterize positively energizing behaviors," explains Cameron.
“The major criticism of positive leadership is that being held accountable for profitability, productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction cannot simply be managed with just a smile or thinking happy thoughts. Leaders are responsible for bottom-line results. Empirical evidence shows, however, that when leaders implement positively energizing practices, when positive behaviors are embedded in the culture of an organization, profitability goes up—often dramatically.
In addition to his work on positive leadership practices, Cameron is also the creator of the widely used Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument (OCAI) and the Management Skills Assessment Instrument (MSAI). These assessment tools measure organizational culture and the leadership competencies that are associated with different types of cultures.
